The antartic enviroment
A thick sheet of ice (average of 2400 m) completely covers Antarctica. The only land visible is the mountains. The ice in Antarctica is 90% of all the ice in the world. Strong winds and very low temperatures make life difficult. The only humans living there are scientists in bases and camps. The scientists study Antarctica's fishing, mineral and energy resources.
